Weekend things.

Greek Turkey Burgers from this website,  https://www.budgetbytes.com/greek-turkey-burgers/  and margaritas because it was national tequila day Friday night.  A morning workout with friends Saturday morning, followed by our first CUBS game of the season on the couch.   Then grilled pizza with The Parent Trap Saturday night. Introducing the kids to some of our old favorites has been Such a fun new pastime!  We woke up to rain Sunday morning, we watched church,  and when the rain stopped I went for a run while listening to the new Taylor swift album and ran my first fast 10k in about 4 months. Thanks T!  I invited the fam over for more Greek turkey burgers and we played indoor made up games and bags on the driveway. Dan and Pam leave today and it was so fun to hang out with them last night.  It’s Monday! Ready to enjoy a new week. I’m focusing on being in the moment this week and not focusing on fall coming/school starting/COVID-19 cases/blahhhhhhh ....

Sigge.

It’s Friday! Some favorites of Sigge from the past week-ish.  1. Sigge snuggled in with lots of blankets sleeping soundly.  2. A day at the park. Sigge is getting brave and I love not having to follow him around.  3. Calling for Grandpa. When my dad went in to use the bathroom last week, Sigge sat on this step and said “gra-pa,pa,pa” over and over again. 4. Baby buns.  5. A walk down to the beach after dinner at the cabin last night.  Today I’m going to try to get in a long-ish run. Spend the day at the cabin, then have friends for dinner.  Happy Friday.  xo. edc.

Bike gang + summer in a bowl.

It was a BIG day yesterday. The kiddos biked to the park and back all by themselves. We navigated lots of crosswalks and Olle even managed to master the “one-handed” bike skill whilst shouting woohooo and giving the peace ✌️ sign with his left hand.  The amount of pride I have when my kids do something big is actually quite embarrassing. I wanted to yell to all the passing cars: “they’re doing it!”.... Sigge was content in the burley and for that I’m grateful because I hope there are many more bike rides this summer.  Also, what a picture of summer: a bowl of watermelon.  xo. edc.

1 year ago + Monday

Hard to believe that a year ago we were sitting at Nelson’s eating 🍦 and hanging out with Uncle Dan and Aunt Pam. Looking forward to them coming on Thursday and hanging out at the cabin this weekend with them.  I started the day with a good early morning run and catch up with Ashley and then a few mins to myself before the kids got up. Today is cleaning day for me. In my 20 for 2020 I made the goal to wash the sheets on Monday’s and when I remember to do it I’m always glad I do! Monday’s are a nice catch up day. I enjoy getting life together to get ready for a week ahead. This week I’m planning on eating healthy, getting in some solid workouts, avoiding sugar and drinking lots of water.  Cheers to Monday!  xo. edc.

Views.

I stayed with the kids at big c over the last couple days and I realized I took a lot of pictures of the “views” I got to experience.  Sten’s church online message talked about the way we spend our time. I want to savor the time I have this summer with those I love most. I don’t want to run from thing to thing, not enjoying it along the way, but instead I want to make the most of every opportunity Gods places in front of me.   “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 A snap at sunset after putting kids to sleep.  A run in the sunshine, along the open farmland.  A 20- miler on the pine tree trail. There was a deer 🦌 in the distance.  Coffee on the patio after getting up with Sigge at 4am.  I’m thankful for these views and for the way big c has become a place of rest and re-charge for me.  xo. edc.

July

We’re over halfway through July and I can feel summer slipping away. I have a love/hate relationship with July 4th because it’s such a fun holiday but summer seems to fly by at record speed once it’s over. This year is no exception. We’ve packed a lot in over the last couple weeks. Normally we’d be just coming home from a week of family camp in Michigan, but everything in 2020 is different. No family camp, so we headed to Bay Lake instead. The weather was hot! We spent our days in the water, testing out the new Lily Pad! The kids had so much fun with their cousins, and some of my favorite moments are always when we get to talk with Bryce and Ryann and play games after our kids are down.  We had a giant sleepover on Saturday night when we packed 13 people in our house. We celebrated all being together by going to Belle Vinez. It was a beautiful summer night. Then we dropped the CO Carlsons off at the airport and Grammy, Mim and Nancy stayed for a few days! What a treat. The kids lov...

Girls trip.

I woke up Monday morning 1,000% refreshed after a weekend away with friends. We boated for hours, jumped into the lake a million times, ate lots of good food and drank margaritas, wine and coronas, played games, made TikTok videos and had the absolute best time in the world. I’m the luckiest to have these friends. They are beyond special to me.
