Sentence + picture.

Sigge makes this face every time the camera is on him for a picture. It’s funny now... but probably will be super annoying when he’s 5.  Olle really likes a good art project. I’m thankful for this bc I know a lot of boys who will NOT sit still for a project. He stays very focused!  Lucy LOVES this eye mask. It totally cracks me up. She wears it to bed EVERY night.  I was getting a board ready the other morning for a brunch I hosted of high school dear friends and I get so much joy out of the little dishes my mother in law has bought for me over the years. I have one for literally every season.  And here’s the picture of the kiddos.  And class of 2004 + husbands.  Cuties.  My sunrise run with Trisha was beautiful. I never tire of this view over the St. Croix river looking back at Hudson.    It feels like it should be Friday. Ever have those weeks????  xo. edc.

Breathe Retreat 2020

I’ve struggled to know if I should post about last weekend mostly because I don’t want to be judged by the amount of people in these photos.  But ultimately, the profound impact last weekend had on me felt like it was worth being judged for.  We hosted our 3rd annual Midcurrent women’s retreat and it was a life-changer. In years past the friendships formed and the community bond had been the highlight for me. This year though, was extremely special. I felt God literally lighting a fire in our hearts, equipping 26 women to go love their families, their neighbors and their community more fully. I felt God calling me to a renewed passion for our church and the kids that walk through our doors. I felt the Holy Spirit in a way I’d never experienced and I stepped into my true identity as a ROCK! An identity that provides freedom and peace when I walk into any and every situation I’m faced with. I feel 💯 % different.  Love these ladies.  In the kitchen doing what I l...

What you’ll find.

If you stop by unannounced, you’ll most likely find my house a complete disaster. But no matter if it’s clean or dirty you will ALWAYS find a deck of cards on the counter from a fresh game of golf.  I get asked to play this game no less than 7 times a day. So why would we put the cards away?  I paused before bringing Olle to preschool today and took a picture of something I want to cement in my mind: This image of: crumbs on the floor, A million colored cups drying (bc Sigge lovely took every single one out today and put his mouth on each and every one), And lastly this sweet little deck o’ cards, which has been one of my biggest joy-bringers over the last 3 months— Teaching my kids the joy of games.  xo. edc.

California

This is so overdue. I haven’t had a minute to reflect on our trip to California until now, 1+ week later.  It was amazing. Simply put, the best vacation I’ve had. What did we do? Worked out, went to wineries, drank wine, came home to our cozy Airbnb, cooked dinner and chatted about our day and caught up on our lives. Sten and I had the BEST time together. I am so grateful God brought us together, he is my favorite thing and the person who loves me most. I hope we feel this crazy about each other, or more, 50 years from now.  Airport mask pic.  Our Airbnb First winery... best way to start.  Loved traveling with Bryce and Ryann. ♥️ Quivira was one of our favs.  Goodbye wine country. Until next year ✌️!  xo. edc.

Peace.

I have a friend whom I’ve been constantly praying peace over and so the word has been at the top of my mind even tho every single thing in my life feels the opposite of peaceful. This morning Olle woke up super early and I missed my 5am run. When sten got up and after we sat on the couch reading books to the boys we meandered into the kitchen. Sten started making eggs, I started making the boys breakfast, and I looked outside at the crisp dark morning and knew there was peace out there on the pavement, waiting for me. It would be a short 30 minute run at this point, but I seized the moment and it was perfect. Exactly what I needed. I prayed peace over both our (mine, and my friend’s) days. I have a list a mile long to complete today, but I feel ✌️! xo. edc.

big c memories.

Another wonderful year of big c memories. It’s always so sad to say goodbye to this place. My mom and I say it’s a little depressing really. The thought of the sand not being played in, the dock not being jumped off and the patio set stored away in the garage... 😭😭! Jessica had the kids re-create this from last year and I just can’t handle how different they look. Almost as if it’s been 2 years in between instead of just 1.  Goodbye Big C! We’ll see you in April 2021! ♥️ xo. edc.

Run 18/20

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon to complete my 18th 20 miler of the year. I held a steady 8 minute pace and tried to enjoy each mile knowing that the leaves are at the peak color and the weather couldn’t be more perfect. I ran from our house to the cabin and the highlight was for sure running over the Stillwater bridge :)  This goal is allllllmost complete, and I just kind of wish I was already done with it. With no races on the calendar running 20, 20 milers has lost a little of its luster.  Still thankful for the solitude and for the miles spent staring out at all the places I love!  Today I finished “Majesty” it wasn’t as good as the first book, and I think there will be a third in this series based on how it ended, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I’ve read well over 20 books this year, which feels like I should get some sort of medal :)  Looking forward to this week! Getting ready for our California travels and the weather looks great for some mornings at...

Ziplock bags.

I’ve decided there are 2 kinds of people in the world. Those who wash their “disposable” ziplock baggies, and those who don’t. As you can see, Sten and I fall into the first category. My mom and sister also fall into this category, which makes me wonder. Is it just us??  It feels so wasteful throwing away a perfectly good bag that just had a couple slices of bread in it. There are certain rules though that seem to stand: if there was ever raw meat in it— straight to the trash. If it starts to rip— trash. If the logo has officially worn off— trash.  I remember as a kid thinking that I’ll never wash a baggie when I’m a grown up, but then you buy a pack of ziplocks for $6, and you quickly begin to understand moms frugality in this!  Proud to wash my baggies. Think of all the money and waste we are saving!!  xo. edc.
