Friday Favs

Sad my birthday week is coming to an end, but I have one last celebration tomorrow with my family, so I’m easing out nicely. Some favs: 1// I’ve already talked about my birthday, but it was for sure my highlight. 2// the kids each invited a friend over Saturday morning and had so much fun! I did too, as I’m convinced that more kids is easier once you get to this age. Lucy and Gia Me having a second cup of coffee in peace and quiet with all kids playing  Olle and LT made a snowman... I spy Sigge in the background :) 3//Sten left for Madison Saturday morning so we had a family breakfast before he left: French toast with homemade whipped cream and berries. 4// I love my Athleta running tights I got from my sister for Christmas. When I put them on I feel fast and ready for a good run. I found myself thinking: this is a favorite. As I get older, I desire more and more quality items. I know this is a luxury, but I'd rather have 1 nice thing than a bunch of cheap thing...

34

My birthday was the best day really, from beginning to end. Highlights: 1// meeting my goal of running my age in miles 2// watching the sunrise 3// eating lots of sweets 4// getting my free Starbucks drink 5/: receiving a million messages from friends and family 6// dinner with just me and my sister 7// book club 8// my mom watching the kids so that I could do all the things I had planned! 9// feeling happy and thankful for all the REALLY good things in my life as birthdays have a way of reminding me to reflect 10// the sunniest February day. I spent my 33rd year in newborn bliss and sleep deprivation, it was one of the happiest years of my life. I did a lot of work trying to find out why I am the way I am and I think that will make 34 an even better year. I’m surrounded with so many great people in a town that I love. I feel as though sten and I are doing meaningful work and I get to spend my days raising 3 beautiful children. Here’s to 34// may it be my best year yet! ...

Sunday Runday

I went into this week strong and then got sick, so I didn’t get the miles I was hoping for, but it was probably good because I’ve been in a state of tired muscles for weeks so this maybe forced me to take a break?? Ha! I’m trying to find the positive! Here’s my week: RUNS// SUNDAY// off— sigges birthday! MONDAY// boot camp + 10 mile 8:06 pace treadmill run with Hannah! TUESDAY// 5 miles 7:42 pace WEDNESDAY// 7.6 miles 7:54 pace THURSDAY// body pump 5a, and then by the end of the day I was down for the count. Ended up having strep! FRIDAY + SATURDAY// nothing. TOTAL// 22 miles. Favorite run// 10 miles with Hannah was SO fun we covered every topic! We used to see each other daily when the girls were at bethel together and now that we don’t, we have so much to discuss when we see each other. She’s training for an Ironman so hopefully there will be more running in our future. :) Listened to// Blink by malcom gladwell This week// took today off as well— tomorrow is my birth...

Friday Update

I’m certain this week couldn’t have gone by faster. All of the sudden it’s Friday and we were just telling the kids that on Friday we could go to the children’s museum. I’ve slacked on blogging as of late. So here’s a recap of the last couple weeks:  Heart pizza for Valentine’s Day!  Olle and his buddy Parker on vday in matching red sporty outfits  Making valentines boxes  The snow was off the streets enough for a quick afternoon bike riding to make sure he’s still got it: spoiler alert— he does!  I call this guy my puzzle master. Sigge baby had a super fun birthday with gma gpa aunt j and uncle mike and a + o. He was most in love with being sung to and the candle.   New library books!  My momKNIT this bear for Lucy for vday!! And the rainbow sweater on it as well!!  The days are getting longer so the kids can play outside when Lucy gets off the bus!!  We celebrated Sigges birthday downtown wit...

February Milestones

This month is full of milestones in my life. My birthday—> 24th Sigges birthday—> 15th Valentine’s Day—> 14th  Blogs birthday—> 20th Let’s spend some time talking about these in this order.  My Birthday. I’d like to say I don’t make a fuss about my birthday, but I do, in fact like to be celebrated. Not by large gifts or grand gestures, but by little things and my favorite cake. This year I hope to run 34 miles on my birthday to usher in my 34th year of life. This will take a considerable amount of time, so I guess that’s what I’ll be asking for— some time to run. I love THIS post in reflection of my 24th year of life. I hope to make 34 just as wonderful.  Sigges birthday. Phew. Can’t believe it’s been a whole year! I hope to celebrate our favorite little guy in a big way as I feel like we all hit the jackpot welcoming Sigge into the world. I hope he loves his cake and is in a good mood so that we can watch him laugh and entertain us with his e...

Sunday Runday

The weather was gorgeous this week for some outside runs, and even though it was freezing Saturday morning, I got in my 3rd 20 miler. Runs: Sunday// 4 mile walk/run with Mary— not counting these miles toward my weekly total Monday// 5.1 miles @ 7:19 pace + a circuit Tuesday// 5.2 miles @ 8 pace Wednesday// 3 mile walk around the track while talking to em, and then 1 mile repeats at 6:15, 6:11, 6:18 4 miles total Thursday// body pump Friday// 5.1 miles @ 7:19 pace —> this must be my sweet spot I had the EXACT same run on Monday morning! Saturday// 20 miles @ 8:25 pace Total: 39 miles Favorite run// it felt really good to get in those 20 solo miles. To let my mind and body just run and to enjoy a dark cold morning and watch the sky lighten up. Bonus was that it is the Hudson hot air affair this weekend and I saw 15 balloons on my last 2 miles. What I listened to// I got half way through the book Life as a Marathon by Matt Fitzgerald. I’m really liking it so far. He s...

Friday Favorites

1// this quote. I find it to be inspiring.... 2// my grandma gave my mom allllllllll the letters I’ve written her over the years. And I had the time of my life reading them. I loved writing letters as a kid and reading them felt a little like reading a diary. I told my grandparents everything. I also thought VERY highly of myself, which was funny to read.  3// when Sigge falls asleep. This boy never stops moving, so it’s one of my favorite things to see him at rest.  4// yesterday in the car the subject of summer was brought up and Olle’s response was (with one finger pointing ☝️ up): “ding ding ding ding ding... camp! And canteen!”  Olle makes Sten and me laugh so much bc he is SO cute and he says the BEST things. And when he’s happy, you can’t help but be happy too.  5// we had our MIDCURRENT volunteer appreciation at Belle Vinez over the weekend and it was very very special. To see a room full of people who have joined us in this journey was t...

Sunday Runday

I love feeling strong and right now running is making me feel strong, so I’m enjoying it a lot. 32.8 (grrrr, wish I would have just got that extra .2!) miles for the week— calling that a major win! I need to start building up my mileage which makes me equally happy and sad. Happy bc I love the feeling of feeling good while running 50 mile weeks, sad because this means I’ll have to say no to something else. Right now I don’t know what that is, so I really need to start to be mindful of how I spend my time. This week runs// Sunday: a slow 5k squeezed in between a long morning at church and dinner plans at a friends house Monday: boot camp in AM Tuesday: 5 miles 7:42 pace Wednesday: 6.68 miles 8:06 pace. I had to go to the bathroom sooooooooooo bad the last 3 miles. It was extremely uncomfortable. And then I felt sick for the next 24 hours. Chills and 🤒 Thursday: sick Friday: 7 miles some speed work, avg pace 7:48 Saturday: 11 miles 7:41 pace TOTAL MILES// 32.8 FAVORITE RUN//...
