Mid-January highlights

Usually January seems to drag on but I think it’s going by really fast this year— is this foreshadowing of 2022 going by fast?!?  Last weekend we spent a lot of time outside building a giant snow fort in our backyard. The sun was shining bright and Lucy proclaimed: it feels like summer in winter! …. Even tho it was 15 degrees out.    January 10th was Olles half birthday. He got to celebrate at school and then we had a 1/2 cake after dinner :) Sigge and Levi played superhero’s and ran around the house all morning. Friends are the best!  Erin and I took the kids to the Childrens Museum on our day off of school on Friday. The kids had a blast. I love this place and so glad we still have kids young enough to enjoy it ♥️ It’s still suuuuuper cold out…. But the days are getting longer and the sun has been shining! xo. edc.

Quality time.

Sissy and I hiked Willow River at night last night and it was peaceful, crisp, snowy, dark and perfect.  Loved spending time with her outside. She has been a huge motivator for me to enjoy winter and I hope these hikes become a big part of our winters as the months go by. Sometimes you just need a good dose of nature and sister time.  It’s bitterly cold again today and snowing. I’m excited to hunker down at Belle Vinez for our volunteer appreciation party tonight.  xo.edc

Willow River + 22 in 2022

Aaaaaaah! Sunshine, warmth and nature! Just what I needed. Sigge and I ditched naptime yesterday and opted for a couple hours of hiking and vitamin D. It was PERFECT!  I love that we live so close to Willow River Sigge climbed up ALLLL the steps on his own! He kept saying, oh! More steps!  Hats off and gloves off for some of the hike. I wish it was sunny and 35* every day in January! He only went in the backpack as we climbed back up the giant hill to the car. My hiking pal. ♥️   Also— my 22 in 2022 never got posted. Have to document so it happens, right?!?  xo. edc.

Mindset.

“Mom, I’m dough-ing to div you a dinormous hug and a dinner dinormous tiss betause I love you!”  My shadow. I am working on turning every moment into a positive.  Sigge only ever wants me = I get to be the special person in Sigges life right now I don’t want to play candy land for the 15th time = I get to stay home and be the one that teaches my child how to play, win, lose and have fun I can’t get anytime to myself= the time I DO get to myself is extra special and I don’t take it for granted.  Positive mindset= positive mood. And I need this in my life right now :)  So today we played lots of candy land, I got nothing done, and now it’s naptime and I am going to enjoy it to the MAX.  xo. edc.

Weekend-ing.

Ran with my badlands friends on Saturday morning and although the “feels like” was -1 it really didn’t feel too bad and the sunrise was 👌 Finished my first book of 2022. Highly recommend. The first chapter is a little disturbing… but i still recommend  I sewed this tiny bear for Lucy to put in her calm box. Other things in her calm box: a book about how special she is (made by her). Lucy— you are special! Rummikub. Favorite game as of late. This was a great Goodwill find… we’ve also been playing Sorry nonstop.  SING 2!!!!! We all loved it. I think going to the movies is one of my favorite things. xo.edc

My girl.

I’ve been waiting for my day to take Lucy on a date for sooooo long. Each Friday morning we switch off taking one of the kids for a little one in one time. I got to take Olle a few weeks ago and just had my special Lucy time this morning.  It was the best way to start my day. Lucy is so smart, so sweet, so funny, so easy going. She makes hanging out together super easy. And somehow she still thinks I’m the coolest person in the world… when will that end???We played Skip-Bo then took a million selfies, then blasted the Encanto soundtrack on the way to school. I never want her to grow up!!  My girl. xo. edc.

Xmas. Lucia. Cardamom bread. Swedish meatballs.

We packed it all in the last couple weeks. I can’t believe Christmas is over and it’s almost 2022.  Some happenings include: Christmas Eve Eve at Midcurrent.  Advent presents were a big hit for Sigge this year. He had so much fun opening a gift every morning with his siblings.  Coffee bread was made and eaten… Lucy said: it smells just like Grammy’s house at Christmas.  Lots of coloring and water coloring.  Our very own Santa Lucia. This outfit is getting very small. Why is Lucy such a big kid????? Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes and rye bread. Our own (very scaled down) Swedish feast on Christmas Eve.  To Grandma and Grandpa’s we go! We spent the night Christmas Eve and woke up to egg bake and carmel rolls and presents! The kids had SO much fun.    Merry Christmas!🎄  xo. edc.
