How is it the last day of May?

This month flew by. We spent it well, and as life seems to be going at a speed I’m not ready for I’m really trying my hardest to soak in all the good. Yesterday we spent the morning at the park with Lucy’s whole class for one of the girls birthdays. It’s been fun getting to know the other moms and I know I’ll miss seeing their friendly faces everyday during pick up and drop off. Olle and Sigge and I did a target run and then went to pick up Lucy from school and then I checked the big kids into the Y and kept Sigge all to myself. I needed just some quiet time with my little guy. I sat in the women’s locker room and fed him and then just stared at him. I can’t imagine these days being gone. I don’t even want to think about it. My back is aching from carrying him so much, but at the very same time I’m more aware than ever that it’ll all be over in a blink of an eye and then I’ll miss it like crazy. June will be: Soaking in Sigges baby-ness A trip to Bay lake with the Colorado Carlson...

First trip to Bay.

We just returned home from Bay Lake, where Sigge was finally introduced to one of our favorite places. Despite the weather being a little iffy, we had the most wonderful time. We pulled in Sunday afternoon and the sun was out. We filled up the kiddie pool and soaked in the lake views. Monday we checked out a new brewery in the neighboring town, where we ate snacks, played games and enjoyed being together. Tuesday we got to see great grandma and meet Kajsa and see the Brand fam. It was a great way to kick off cabin season at Bay Lake.

Lucy 5.5

this post is dedicated to our Lucy girl. She is 5 1/2, fun, silly and smart. We’re still trying to figure out her personality as it seems kids change every six months. Some days she’s a rule follower other days she seems to buck the system, but one thing is always true she’s super creative and has an imagination that is second to none. She loves school so so much. Her teacher loves her and Lucy loves miss mollie. She comes home knowing things I didn’t teach her, like the fact that a spider isn’t an insect bc it has 8 legs and insects only have 6.... who knew?? The thing she loves the most right now is baby brother. She spends a lot of time playing with Sigge, trying to get him to laugh and running to get a blanket or a bib when needed. There are times when she’s such a big help I don’t know how I would get everything done without her. She’s growing so fast and just last night, Sten and I said we hope she never stops being her. We couldn’t love her more if we tried. A Lucy selfi...

Olle-man

This post is dedicated to Olle, who constantly is making us laugh, but we can’t actually laugh bc he is the most sensitive kid ever. Olle is almost 4. He is happy and joyful and moody and angry all in the same 5 minute span. He is constantly doing Spider-Man moves, or making some sort of “boy” sound. This is new territory for me, as I grew up with a sister, but I have to say I’m enjoying it to the max. I marvel at how much energy he has, but then also am not surprised when he zonks out in the car on our 6 minute drive to the ymca. He wants to be big more than any kid I’ve ever met and can’t wait to be in school next year. He’s very observant, he loves his sis and little bro and he has a soft spot for mom and dad. We love him more than we could ever imagine and constantly comment on how handsome he is. Olle-man, don’t ever stop being one cool dude.

Table.

As I was doing my morning time I looked over and saw candle sticks burned all the way down, water pitcher still on the table and little crumbs here and there. We’ve hosted 17 people at our table over the last 4 days. Starting with dinner club Saturday night, my sis and her fam Monday and then some friends from church last night. Each dinner was special and as I am someone who loves to cook and feed people, great joy was had by me. I just finished closing up the table, bringing the high chair back downstairs, washing the cloth napkins for the 3rd time and wiping down the bench, and now I’m sitting here super thankful that we have so many people in our lives that fill our home. xo. edc

Sleepy Sigge.

Not sure why, but I held Sigge for 2 naps the other day. It could have been that the days before were  nuts due to a busy weekend, but I just couldn’t put him down. I want to remember his sleepy, peaceful, and content body while he’s sleeping. It’s so special. I wonder if I felt this way when Olle and Lucy were babies. I’m sure I did to a certain extent, but being a little older and knowing how truly fast kids grow up, Sigge feels so different to me. And he’s just so cute it’s hard to put him down. ♥️ xo. e

Mixed CDs.

Remember when friends used to make you mixed cds? I took Sten’s car to the Y this morning and found a CD he made for a trip we took to Michigan while we lived in Chicago. Pre-kids, so he had time to put together playlists like this. It’s mostly scratched at this point but I got so giddy listening to the songs he chose. Mostly because there were some sweet love songs and the story I was telling myself was that he picked those out especially for me. It made me feel special and my drive home from the Y was filled with all the memories of our road trip to Michigan. We most likely ate a million starbursts and I specifically remember living on PB and J sandwiches so we could spend our money on wineries instead #priorities. I kinda wish people still made mix CDs. It feels like such an act of love to select songs specifically for someone and that tangible item is one of significant value! Our trip to Michigan was a dream. And feels like a lifetime ago. Thankful that it’s documented here . W...

Thursday thoughts. + Sigge is 3 months.

i woke up feeling grateful. Sigge seems to have settled on to a 4:45 wake up routine for the time being and I’m ok with it. It forces me to get up after I feed him and put him back down. I’ve been doing a Bible study, journaling, and running all before the majority of the house is awake.  Sigge is officially 3 months (as of yesterday). 😩 I’m loving his smiles and we’re so close to some laughs. Lucy knows just what to do or say to get the biggest grins from him. But I’m also very sad. So sad that there’s not this teeny tiny infant that just sleeps and lays in me nonstop.  Xo. edc

Big C.

We spent our first night at Big C last night. It was an impromptu, ‘throw some stuff in the cooler and a quick overnight bag and head out’ kinda deal. But boy, was it worth it! We stopped at Teddy Bear Park before making our way to the cabin where Sten met us and we made dinner, went down to the beach and then roasted some marshmallows before going to bed. Everyone slept in until 7:15, and I’m seriously considering moving in 😉 I’m so glad it’s almost summertime!!

weekend.

What a great weekend from beginning to end! some highlights include our 6K race at Midcurrent on Saturday morning. My 11 mile sunrise run, early Cinco de Mayo celebration at mom and dads Saturday night, an awesome morning at church followed by a night spent at the cabin with just the 5 of us. The weather was perfect all weekend and as I am someone who is affected by the weather, my spirits were extra high this weekend! Sunrise run.  Matching Trolls Jammies. These guys pushed in the dock and now summer can begin! We got a fire going inside and spent the night being cozy! Bathroom selfie with my Lucy girl! Olle went early to church with dad, so Lucy and I got to have some girl time :) If this guy could be permenantly connected to me, I think he would. He sure loves mom. And I love him. oh weekend, I hate to see you go! xo. edc.

Olle. Super Laser Glasses

Yesterday we had to run a bunch of errands and often that looks like feeding Sigge in the parking lot at school while we wait to pick up Lucy. I hate that “I don’t have enough time to go home, but we’re wayyyy early for pick up” haha. Anyway olle was posing for the best pictures while we were hanging out in the van together it was soooo cute. I love when he’s playful and happy because these days he’s so often mad at the world for some reason. I love these pictures of him with his super laser glasses... wish you could have heard his noises too, and as my sister noted when she saw the pics: there was a lot of spit going on. He is such a funny guy ♥️
