COVID 19 day 43: random thoughts

My Apple watch ⌚️ gives monthly challenges and April was 302 miles running or walking. I’m only 5 miles from completing the challenge after my 13.1 mile run this morning! Yahoo! Can’t wait to get that medal 🏅. It’s my brother in law’s birthday today!!! The kids and I dropped off coffee this morning and got to see cousins for a quick min which always fills me up even if I can’t give them a squeeze. I’ve made 2 gluten free treats in the last week. Cookies (which didn’t turn out great) and brownies which were a little better? It was demo day over here today! We’re taking down a wall and opening up our whole main floor. We’re all pretty excited about this! Sten and I have 3 episodes of Tiger King left and all I want to do is finish it. I felt like the first couple episodes were meh, but nowwwwww ahhhhh!!!! We took Qwirkle out to play today while Sigge was napping and I forgot how much I enjoy that game. It’s really fun now that Lucy’s old enough to understand games. I think ...

COVID 19 day 42

Rainy day! We could feel the fact that we couldn’t be outside today! I vowed to start the day off right with a coconut milk latte from Dunn Bros, but I was in kind a bad mood until dinner. Sten makes things 1000% better and when he started wrestling the kids on the floor all was right with the world again. Tomorrow will be a new day.  Olle made this LEGO thing and I was super impressed. He went on to film himself pretending to be Christian from LEGO master explaining how to make it.... And then I made some homemade whipped cream and Sigge Was. A. Fan! xoxo. Here’s to a new day tomorrow! edc.

COVID 19 day 40+41

Wow. We are in the 40’s! When I started blogging everyday I never thought it’d go this long. Now I don’t think things will be back to normal for about a year. So I may have to adjust my goals! Yesterday we took our first true family bike ride or BR as Lucy likes to call it. Sten and I found a Chipotle Gift card  in the car from when Sigge was born, so we ordered take out and had a date night! Exciting times over here! Today we spent a lot of time outside bc it was 70 degrees! Yahoo. I was looking through pictures of what was going on a year ago and found these gems of baby Sigge boy. I cannot imagine our lives without this buddy.  I’m thankful for: 1. jogging strollers 2. COVID 19 date nights 3. bike rides 4. our swing set 5. our garage, which holds a million toys and bikes and garage stuff! I hit 54 miles last week! I’m at 10/50 this week. 19: ❎/✅ I’m about 50/50 5 ❎✅ again about 50/50 I’ll weigh myself tomorrow bc I didn’t over the weekend. ...

COVID day 38 +39 FRIDAY/Saturday

Whoops! Getting lazy with my daily postings! Highlights. So. Much. Outside. Time. My sister sent me a picture of her sunburn today and said if you get a sunburn in April you know you’ve had a good day. My nose is pink and I already have a tan line from my watch so it’s been a good day. We brought out the sprinkler. Went for a family bike ride and grilled pizza. I spent zero time indoors today and yesterday. Very over quarantine. xo. edc.

COVID DAY 37

We’ve got a pretty great routine down now. It includes very little school and a whole lot of playing. I don’t think we even got to Olle’s schoolwork today. And that’s ok! I’d rather my kids remember this time for the fun we had together rather than any frustration caused by my lack of teaching ability! I do have to say though that I love seeing what my kids know! I shouldn’t be surprised anymore when they answer a question right, but I’m always caught off guard. How did they know that? We spent 80% of our day outside today and it was great. The 20% we were inside we spent giving haircuts and eating a quick dinner before heading back outside for another walk around the neighborhood and more biking in circles in front of our house. What else? Oh! A friend dropped off these mega bubbles that you use with 2 wooden dowels and a rope and the kids thought it was the GREATEST thing ever! Sten missed it as he was filming for church and we can’t wait to show him tomorrow. Lucy at the end o...

COVID 19 day 36 (yesterday)

It was too nice outside yesterday to get anything done besides the minimum! So that’s what we did!! and apparently I only took pictures of Sigge.... I also made a batch of 100% whole wheat bread. In the evening Olle had a zoom meeting with his 4K class, and had a FaceTime call with his buddy Parker. Lucy had fun talking on FaceTime to Lyla in the afternoon. Thankful for friends and ways to socialize during this time! Thankful for: 1. Warm days 2. FaceTime 3. Homemade bread 4. My new book: American Dirt 5. Hearing birds chirp. 50: 26.5/50 miles Had a donut 😳 19:✅ 5: ❎ xo. edc.

COVIDday 35

Bright sunny sky for my run this morning. Followed by school, outside time, lunch then a trip to grandmas to ride bikes. Home for dinner and my night will end with a book club zoom meeting, which I’m really looking forward to seeing as I loved this book. I made Lucy and Olle shakes for lunch and they got cold from them and asked me to turn on the heater, then they put this blanket over them and stayed there for a solid 15 minutes talking.  Feeling thankful for: - Marco Polo - Sten, who took the early shift with Sigge and allowed me to have some extra minutes in bed - Jenner Lane in CG where I grew up. I love watch my kids and niece and nephew play on the same street I did growing up. - the fact that I don’t go to the gas station anymore... I don’t like getting gas as I always wait until the last possible moment and then I’m always late to something bc I had to stop for gas. - sunny days. 50-19-5 50: - 22.4/ 50 miles - had 1 Girl Scout cookie... probably more than 50...

COVID day 34

Another good day. The weather got a little crazy in the afternoon. It would downpour one second and then be sunny skies the next, and as I sat and watched the clouds shift with Sigge boy in my lap I felt thankful for that moment. That I had enough time and nothing else to do but watch nature out our window. We listened to the rain, and got blinded by the sun and it all felt pretty cool. It was also supposed to be Boston Marathon Monday, and I felt sad for all the runners. I would have been devastated if this was my year and I was missing it. Lots of things to grieve but also so many things to be thankful for. Like: 1. Kale in my eggs this morning and kale in my shake this afternoon. 2. A new token system that had my kids washing windows this afternoon 3. Our basement that gives Lucy and Olle a place to be loud. 4. A quick outside play time before the rain came 5. A really sweet note in the mail and a gift card for Dunn Bros. 50-19-5 50: I’m at 16.2/ 50 miles for th...

COVID day 33

Sunday started off with a 10 mile run and the weather was perfect. So sunny and I wore just the right amount of clothes. I documented my run bc in non-coronavirus times I often can’t run on Sunday’s. Sten is out of the house before 6, so I’d have to leave at 4:30 to get in a distance run. So while I was out running this morning I looked at my watch often and would say to myself: I’ve never been out running on a Sunday at 7:41am before! We watched church online then spent the rest of the day outside. It was a blue sky day! We met the Bernard’s at a park with a big field and the kids ran around while we sat 6 ft apart on blankets. I want to squeeze Amos and Olive and give my sister the biggest hug. Won’t it feel weird to hug people again??  Forgot to talk about my cute snack board we put together for lunch. Some of my favorite things ☝️  The Bernard’s stayed for a bit and I couldn’t help but think about how funny this whole experience is. Trying to social distanc...

COVID DAY 32

Ahhhhh, Saturday! It was a good day. My favorite parts: Cleaning the office Cleaning the pantry Cleaning the garage Flying kites Obstacle courses outside in the backyard Margaritas with Stenny. Perfect day for flying kites 🪁! I love my family so much. I’m so thankful for Sten and the ways he makes me laugh. Lucy and the ways she reminds me to be girly and play barbies or paint my nails, Olle, in his determination and how he continues to try, and Sigge. Who Sten and I have repeatedly said is just a big gift to our family. His love for the outdoors, his excitement over dogs, the way he “talks” on FaceTime, he just really makes me smile. xo. edc.

COVID day 31

In a way the time has gone fast— like how has it been 31 days?? In an effort to remember what this time feels like I find it important to add the small details of things that we wouldn’t be doing if there was no coronavirus. So today I’ll choose to talk about how both of my kids talked to their classes from devices.... how weird??? I think it was fun for them to see their friends, and they were pretty cute about it :) We also painted, played outside, I went for a run and Lucy and I both are listening to the first Harry Potter book. She is so into it. I’ve already read it, but decided to re-read (listen) to it bc - why not?!? Things I wouldn’t do in normal times! Tonight we are doing a zoom with our dinner club and how I wish we were sitting around someone’s table instead!! xo. edc.

COVID DAY 30

We just got our safer at home order extended through May, I thought it would rattle me more than it did, but I guess I figured it was coming, so I’m ok. That means no more school for the rest of the year too! The kids are happy about it, and I’m choosing to find the good, bc really, this is all too wild to take too seriously. We got outside after dinner (sten was filming the service for Sunday) and the fresh air was so good for the kids. Lucy’s getting really good on her bike and Amos passed down his old skateboard so they all thought that was pretty fun. Finding joy in the lazy small moments is a lot easier when the weather is nice (it was 40 degrees). I also finished a book today Ask Again, Yes. Very good. I listened to most of it on my runs this week, and then when I started getting really into it I found myself reading while brushing my teeth and in between school lessons for the kids. A good book is hard to beat. Today was a good day. xo. edc.

COVID day 28

I woke up early this morning knowing I needed some time to gather thoughts and although I didn’t get much time, I did get out for a 10 mile freezing cold run. Felt good to get home and be ready to tackle the day. We had a fantastic morning. Lots of learning and fun.  This photo was a good reminder that staying at home feels exactly like this road. Super long with many ups and downs. I think the fact that there’s snow on the side of the road is fitting. It’s almost as if it’s saying: oh and also, you thought you could put away your snow stuff and have easy days playing outside?? Think again.  xo. edc

COVID day??

I took a total of zero pictures today. So here is one from a while back when we were able to touch people and be in restaurants....  I miss this! Determined to make this week count even though it’s supposed to be super chilly outside. I can do this!  xo. edc

COVID day 26 and EASTER!

How weird to celebrate Easter at home, just the 5 of us. I can’t think of a time that my entire Easter Sunday didn’t revolve around multiple church services. We still watched 2 services, but in our jammies while eating pancakes. It was sad to not see family, but we really made the most of our day! Easter baskets, church online, dying eggs, bunny pancakes, power clean (because it’s still Sunday), Easter Jam with MCKIDS, indoor egg hunt, got dressed up and made a ham (who am I?), Magnolia Table potato stacks, deviled eggs and green beans, then went out and played in the SNOW! Sten and I ended our night with a snowy sit in the hot tub and I seriously feel like that was a marathon good day! Some sights from around our home: Me, Sten and Sigge came inside, while Lucy and Olle wanted to stay out and play, next thing I know: I look out the window to find these 2 sitting on lawn chairs side by side. Sten and I laughed and I think both just felt thankful...
