Today I ran with NO gloves!!!! First time since probably November?! Is there any better feeling than realizing it’s getting closer to Spring?!?  My run with Haley this morning was so wonderful. We chatted, beat the rain, saw the most beautiful pink (valentine) sunrise and started our day off in the best way possible.  xo. Happy Valentine’s Day! edc.

On being a mom to Lucy

Does every parent cry when someone tells them something amazing about their kids? …. It’s me! Hi!  I love being Lucy’s mom. I love that I’ve had the privilege of being there for every single milestone of her vision and for putting in SO much hard work for so many years and watching it all pay off.  I love watching her be brave and talk to adults and explain what she can see and can’t see. I love hearing her preferences when we take her out for a special date. I love knowing that if she misses half a day of school for an appointment she will be 100% fine and will ease back into school with confidence. I love that she named the best part of her day as hanging out with mom and dad.  Her appointment today at Mayo was awesome. She’s seeing the best she ever has and was just such a champ all morning long. We feel so lucky to have an amazing dr. take care of her all these years.  I love my Lucy girl SO much.  xo. edc.

Positive temps, negative splits.

I haven’t been running fast lately. I just never really got any speed back after my last marathon…. It must have been the warm weather yesterday because I felt like I was flying and it felt so good. I didn’t know my splits until I uploaded it to Strava and I just got so excited.  Running is my form of mental health, my chance to show myself what I am capable of and to show up for myself. I love “running me”. It’s my favorite and best version of myself. Is this weird? Probably— but everyone has a thing, right??  Hoping for more negative splits and positive moods in the months to come!  xo. edc.

My man.

Yesterday sten and I created a little place to hang. We were so excited about it we found a cheap rug and a little circle table to complete the look. As a family we came up with a name for this new place and it is now called: “the spot”.  I love when sten and I have a good chat at home. It’s my very favorite and something we cemented yesterday was a UAW (us against the world) mentality. I hope it’s always that way.  Sten sure knows how to love me best and obviously he’s just the best in general. I always feel the luckiest when I think about him.  xo. edc.

On puzzles

Sissy and I had a cabin sleepover with the cousins last night. While they played some very intense wrestling game J and I puzzled. I love a good puzzle session.  We chatted while never looking up. It was really lovely. Have I mentioned how much she means to me? She means the world to me. I wish everyone had a Jessica in their life.  A friend told me this past week that I don’t seem like a second born to her and I said- oh, then you’ve never seen me around my sister. I slip into this younger sibling role realllllllly quickly. I think it’s bc of how much Jessica makes me feel safe and loved. Forever my partner dartner.  xo. edc.

Kate.

I’ve been chatting with my college roomie on polo lately. She’s consistently been a person in my life that’s been present. We both got married young, lived in the city before having kids, then had babies at the same time. You can’t not love Kate. She makes this world a better place just by her open heart and ability to be so THERE for the people she cares about.  College friends are so different. When you got to know someone by living with them, it speeds up the process and forces you to figure things out as you go. Getting to know people as an adult you have to put in a lot of hours and even then, you’re not forced to see that person when you return home from class, so time goes on until you make time again.  I wonder if people would say:  My college/high school  friendships are deeper because I really DID life with them  My now adult friendships are deeper because I had to consistently put in the effort and had to CHOOSE to get to know them throughout mu...

Valentine ๐Ÿ’Œ Nails ๐Ÿ’…๐Ÿผ

TLC last night meant a long shower, a face mask, lotion, and painting my nails. Hearts and glitter! They don’t look great, but adding a bit of whimsy to my nails really made me happy.  Also came across this post from the days of old. Maybe one of the BEST decisions I ever made was buying that box of Barbie’s from our librarian back in Menomonie. Lucy’s spent countless hours in her room, imagination running wild! I got this letter in the mail from Emily and it’s the BEST. Snail mail+ a cute card what could be better?? I instantly wrote her back which means I only have 2 more letters to write before I can cross that off my 37 list! Today is 40* and sunny. How did we get this lucky?  xo. edc.
