We made it.

Sten got home Friday night and Saturday morning I was out of the house to do a workout without lugging the kids to the YMCA for the first time in a week! I also was able to run a few errands solo and we had some sweet family time at our favorite Saturday morning spot: Panera The week flew by, and I’m in complete shock that I only have 2.5 weeks to go until baby comes. 😳 Last night we had our old small group over for dinner and I was able to watch all the kids running up and down the stairs having the best time playing together, while the adults chatted away cupping our decaf coffee mugs and trying our hardest to stay warm and not worry about all the doors slamming and  things possibly breaking throughout our house. Lol. This week  is supposed to be REALLY cold. Like -55 with windchill.... is that even possible????? What are we going to do all week???? I’m going to have to think of some big projects to keep us busy! xo. edc

this week.

Sten is in Denver for Midwinter this week. It's always hard to single parent for multiple days in a row, and I just miss his companionship, but at the very same time, the pace of our house is different. We have less schedule and come and go when we want. I typically get more sleep, since I stick to my bodies natural "go to sleep at 8pm, get up at 5am" routine. We've been keeping busy with friends and for me, when I am the only parent, I think I try super hard to be a really good one, knowing there's no one there to pick up my slack :) Sten gives the kids wayyyyy more hugs and snuggles than I do normally, so this week, I've made sure to crawl into bed with both of them, and let them sit on my lap at breakfast. I can feel the baby clock getting closer and closer. I keep looking at the calendar thinking, 3.5 more weeks.... We have so many things planned from now until Feb 15, and I know it is just going to fly by. I sit and think about how differe...

Date 1/12

one of my 19 for 2019 was 12 dates with Sten. We checked off our first one last night might, using a gift card to Pier 500 and finishing the evening with decaf coffee at Dunn Bros. Our friends Kyle and Ashley offered to take the kids, and Lucy and Olle were beyond thrilled that they got to spend an evening with some of their pals. I’m glad to have made this one of my goals as this has not been a regular occurrence for us as of late, and it’s something we both love a lot. xo. edc.

Question of the day

I’m having some technical difficulties with my blog 😩 and I’m not technical. So this is from Thursday 🙄 My ?? of the day is: Will this running jacket fit for 29 more days??? Had a nice run with Trisha this morning. We both noticed that with the little bit of snow on the ground it felt like we were trudging through a sandy beach (maybe slightly dramatic, but this morning felt hard!) I’m thankful for my Thursday morning runs/ catch ups with my Hudson running pal. ♥️

good things

Here are a few good things right now: My walks around the block with the kids. I left with 2 kids yesterday but then Olle wanted to go back and we were only about 2 houses in, so Lucy and I dropped him back off at home with Sten and had a little girl time. She always asks for girl time and it’s so rarely an option, we took the opportunity to do a loop together and hold hands and it was just so special.  Sten and I have been setting our alarms a little earlier than normal and getting up to read. Our coffee is hot, and I’m usually in my cozy socks him in his slippers, it’s the best way to start the day. A quiet house, a book and a hot cup of coffee. I hope we can continue this habit somehow when baby comes.  Stens been giving me a free night each week to do whatever I want. He puts the kids to bed and all. It’s been the greatest gift. Yesterday I walked for an hour at the Y, and then met my sister for coffee in Woodbury. We both brought books, but we ended up talking for 2 hours...

healthy habits.

I’ve been reading Gretchen Rubin’s book Better than Before and I'm loving it! It’s been good to get into a nonfiction book since I gravitate towards easy reads/ fiction. I’ve been so encouraged by how well my 2019 has been. I know we’re only 15 days in, but I’ve been killing it. I’ve ran everyday, I’ve been sticking to my laundry routine, I’ve worked super hard at keeping things tidy even with 2 kids constantly making a mess and I’ve continued to meal prep/ plan all my meals. There hasn’t been a single day that I just had to throw something together. Look at that sneaky Olle hand reaching for a pepper. Don't mind the "watch" he's wearing. It's made out of construction paper and about 17 staples. Lucy made them for the whole fam. It makes me feel so good! One of my friends once told me that as soon as she gets home from the grocery store she chops up all her vegetables so #noexcuses and it has been a life changing piece of advice for me. Sten and I eat e...

Another Birthday to celebrate

Today a friend texted to remind Sten and me that one year ago today we launched our weekly services at Midcurrent. There has been no turning back. This year has stretched us in ways we didn't see coming-- but all in all its been a year of incredible growth. Growth in our marriage, in our family, in our friendships, in our faith and within our community. Happy Birthday Midcurrent. You are a VERY good thing. xo. edc.

Friday.

This week has flown by. Normally January drags on for me, but there’s been so much sunshine and my month has been filled with uplifting people and lots of encouragement + Sten was "off work" for 2 weeks, so I can honestly say this has been one of my favorite months in a while! I’ve been doing awesome with whole30, I’ve been not stressed out at all about laundry after many people said you HAVE to try doing at least one load a day or every other day, and I got to check ‘get an Apple Watch’ ⌚️ off my 2019 list! I have been saving up gift cards and birthday money for over a year to get a new watch and I finally got it! I love it! Gretchen Rubin says that it’s best to put 1 thing on your 2019 list that you’ll be able to check off right away-- so ✅ !  Other Favorites this week: As a last hurrah as a family of 4 we took the kids to the Mall of America to ride the rides. It was so much fun! They literally had the time of their lives being brave! We ended our night going out for dinne...

One of those days

It’s Friday and the sun is shining. It’s 40 degrees out and I just spent the past 2 hours outside, enjoying some warmth on my face and vitamin D on my skin. I’ll take it!! January 4th and Lucy was in short sleeves while playing outside!  We ate lunch outside and then sat in the sun until it was time to take Lucy to school (with sunroof OPEN). Normally, as soon as we get home I rush olle upstairs and quick get him down for a nap so I can have some quiet time, but today we ran around the block. I’m not kidding, Olle ran the entire way. I think we all needed this day to remind us of warmer weather and the thrill of blue skies.  xo. edc.

Notables

I missed quite a few things over the last couple weeks and since my blog is the holder of memories for me I want to make sure I jot down and post a few of my favorites from Christmas time!  December dinner club was the most dreamy night. Filled with multiple courses, wine pairings and a cozy night at the Leverty’s. Still dreaming about the food we ate!  Santa Lucia! We actually missed it on the 13th because I was sick and needed to sleep, but this girl shot out of bed bright and early on the 14th and we delivered light and treats to dad and Olle in bed. She is so stinking cute about this tradition. It’s one of our favorites for sure!  Emily came to visit us! We had so much fun with her! It felt like a gaping hole when she went home. The kids adored her and I loved having someone to hang out/ run with and an excuse to go Christmas shopping downtown Hudson ♥️ Christmas with my family! This year we all gave to charity so the experience was truly about being together and that...

12/12 state parks.

On Sunday December 30th I squeezed in my last state park of the year. Olle wanted to go to "nicknick" aka Kinnickinnic, so we bundled up and headed out with some hot cocoa in tow. He jabbered the entire way about transformers and Batman and bat skills and basketball and I loved it. I think he knew he had my undivided attention and was taking full advantage :) It was cold and slippery and we didn’t last more than an hour. But we played at the nature playground went out to the lookout and walked around on the icy trails. Love this guy of mine.  He’ll be 3.5 in 8 days and I can’t stand it. I think 3 is difficult and amazing at the same time. He’s sweet and sensitive and he makes us smile constantly.  State Park goal complete!  xo. edc.

19 in 2019

Whoop whoop! Happy New Year! I love when the calendar flips! Fresh starts, blank slates, new goals, and lots of time to reflect. 2018 was a good one, and I am happy to say that I think 2019 has the potential to be even better. I can officially say that NEXT MONTH a baby will be joining our family! About 6 weeks to go, and we couldn't be more excited. I've made some awesome goals this year. 19 in 2019: 1.
