Friday Favorites

It's a really big weekend around here. I'm leaving Sigge for the first time, and I have a feeling I'll be staring at pictures of him all weekend, pretending that I'm fine, but really crying inside....On to my favorites of the week: 1// Apple Orchard with Sigge and Olle + MOPS. 2// Basketball with Olle. He is getting good-- especially is dribbling game. and Sigge seemed to really enjoy patting (dribbling) the ball as well. 3// Family dinner at our house on Wednesday night. I made some lasagna, and the table was full of my favorite people, we took our after dinner coffee out to the front porch and watched the kids run off the last of their energy before going to bed.  4// My last favorite: I had my last hard run before the marathon next Sunday and I'm feeling ready. Now for my least favorite week of the training cycle-- the taper. I most likely won't be blogging next week because I'll be in a bad mood :) Here's to a weekend aw...

today.

Lucy had a hard time going to school today bc it was a gym day and she hates gym. My heart was literally torn in 2 sending her on the bus with tears down her cheeks.. Being a mom is hard. Especially for someone who feels EVERY feeling of someone else. All I wanted was to swoop her up, tell her she didn’t have to go and read books on the couch all day or color a million pictures or take her swimming (all the things she loves) but instead I gave her a “happy rock” to keep in her pocket and watched her TINY self walk up the school bus steps, holding it together until I got into the house and cried my eyes out. I’m wondering now how I’m going to make it through the teenage years. xo. edc.

Nora + Olle.

It’s really fun watching your kids make friends. Especially when you really like who they’ve chosen. My friend Ashley’s little girl Nora is in the same class at school with Olle. These two see each other at church on Sunday, MOPs on Tuesdays and school everyday. Whenever I ask Olle who he played with that day it is inevitably Nora. I’m glad they have each other. Friends are special ♥️ xo. edc.

Friday Favorites— Lucy is SIX!

I guess this post goes out to my favorite 6 year old. Can’t believe I have a six year old, but so glad she’s mine. 1// SATURDAY Last Saturday morning while the boys were camping, Lucy, Sigge and I had a Panera date. We colored, and I drank coffee and she picked a scone to eat.    Not Pictured was the AMAZING time I had with my sis, while Olive and Lucy played for literal hours. It was really fun to have a girls day.  When Sten and Olle got back Saturday night we biked to the park. It was SO hot. Look at those happy smiles. 2// TUESDAY NIGHT. On Tuesday we had an impromptu water party, because again it was so hot, at Hailley's. We are currently having a second summer, and I'm not mad about it. There were a million kids and it was so fun. 3// LUCY=6   Can't believe my little nugget is 6. We had donuts for breakfast and then when she got home from school we had homemade mac and cheese, and opened SO many LEGOfriends sets. The rest of the...

Friday Favorites

How in the world is it Friday? This week FLEW by. Some favs: 1// Lincoln, Croix, Levi and Sigge. Baby friends at church. Can’t wait to see these 4 running around owning the place some day.  2// We celebrated Lucy’s birthday early with great grandma Kay +Joanie + Dave and Lucy has officially become obsessed with the LEGO friends sets. It’s been the only thing she’s done for the past 3 nights after school.  3// That day that it was randomly 80 degrees— my mom and I met here w Sigge in the stroller and walked 5.5 miles. It was sooooo glorious. I needed that day to remember what summer feels like.  Sten is off with Olle to do some camping tonight. And Lucy and I (and Sigge) will have some girl time with Jessica and Olive. Can’t wait.  xo. edc.

mind dump.

-School has already been a bit of an adjustment for me. Buses, drop-offs, naps, permission slips, lunches.... I don’t know how everyone makes it look so easy! I had my first afternoon of quiet yesterday and I am looking forward to that 2 hour window where Lucy and Olle are at school and Sigge is napping. I think it will be good rest for my soul. Hopefully I can balance the desire to be productive with the need for rest. -I’m struggling to know how to spend my mornings with Olle. Sigge naps for quite a bit of the morning so it’s hard to go do anything, but I don't want mornings with him to just "go by" -  I need to make some plans. Today we cleaned out 2 closets and the pantry. He likes to help and organize, and I love putting him to work. It's way more fun than doing it by myself. -Either Sigge is going through a growth spurt, or teething, or has a cold because he has been getting up multiple times throughout the night and it is exhausting. phew. I feel so drained...

Friday Favorites

Well. I made it one week on posting my favorites on Friday. Here is the Sunday edition: 1// I would lovingly dub this week the 'week of parks'. They are not all pictured but we went to the park 4 out of 4 days, one day hitting up 2 parks. The weather was perfect for monkey bars, slides and swings. I had a lot of one-on-one time with each kid this week since they Lucy and Olle started school at different times. I was trying my hardest to soak up all the last moments and I think we did!  There's a lot of bench sitting with Sigge, watching the big kids make friends and play weird games that are 100% made up, but I love it. I love how Lucy and Olle can jump in, and run around, and then come back with red faces, panting for water. 2// Lucy requested Banana Chocolate Chip muffins one afternoon while Olle was at school. I am always up for a bake session with my girl, since she is not usually my baker. Sigge got in on the action too. We popped him up on the counter ...

BACK 2 SCHOOL!

This week felt surreal. Sending my babies to school left me feeling a million emotions and this impending doubt that I haven’t soaked up enough time with them. Especially Lucy, since she’s gone from 8-4:30 each day. But they both have given “great” reports and were exhausted last night so I guess we survived! Olle is in 4K at Bethel Highlands with Miss Sally. He has been playing mostly with his buddy Nora and his favorite thing about school so far is snack time. Lucy is in Kindergarten at River Crest and her teacher is Mrs. Gohdsian. She rides the bus, brings her lunch and a snack to school and loves the monkey bars at the playground. I cannot wait to see her grow and learn this year! Sten and I dropped Olle off at Bethel yesterday and celebrated school starting by heading downtown for an afternoon date (with our 3rd wheel Sigge). Having 2 kids in school is going to take a lot of getting used to and I’m trying to figure out how to structure our days— mostly so that Sigge will be ...

Labor Day weekend reflections.

I meant to write this Monday night, but I was so tired from the weekend I went to bed super early. But I had the most fulfilling weekend. Jam packed with a ton of people and fun activities. Friday morning I got in a 23 mile run with Kate and Mandy and that evening took a trolley to Vino in the Valley for Hailley’s Birthday. We drank wine and ate pizza and had so much fun. Saturday we did some family time and then went over to a friends house with the kids and watched them play, we had a bonfire and I just loved how the night ended with: the kids playing games into the dark and saying we had to go like 10 times. Impromptu Birthday dinner for Hannah with Abby at San Pedro on Sunday night left me so thankful for really amazing mom friends to talk to and glean advice from. We sat and talked for 4 hours. Monday we spent out at Big C. Soaking in the last day before school started. I was very sad when it was time to say goodbye. We jumped in the freezing cold water and took a big last lo...
