My thoughts today in this slice of the world (my blog).

This month has felt a bit out of control, starting the last weekend in September when I was gone for the women's retreat, followed by either Sten or me being gone or having guests in town every weekend since, AND the weekdays didn't slow down either. I have been subbing at Olle's school and took a job as the Lunch Bunch coordinator on Wednesdays.... I have said "yes" to too many things this month and I have vowed that November will be a month of "no's". I love a catchy theme, so NOvember it is.... What does this mean? - No to playdates except the ones I have already committed to - No to evenings out except the ones already on my calendar - No to doing anything during Sigge's afternoon nap - No to me and Sten being apart on the weekends - Yes to lots of dinners around our table followed by playing with the kids before bed - Yes to reading on the couch after kids go to bed with Sten - Yes to getting REALLY good sleep - Yes to eating nouri...

Friday Favorites: California

Hands down my favorite thing about this week was spending a long weekend in California. I got to ring in Emily’s birthday in wine country. Talk about dreamy! We asked a local for a recommendation of a good view, and he did not lead us astray...  We loved this sunny winery! Free Birthday pour for the Birthday girl. do you spy me, the only one at the pool? I swam laps in this pool after breakfast, and then basked in the sun and the California heat before checking out. What is better than a pool, at a hotel in California????? We checked into the Olea Hotel and had a happy hour glass of wine on this patio and watched the sunset. It. was. perfect. Then we walked into town for dinner, where we closed the restaurant down. We literally never run out of things to talk about. The best kind of friend. After Emily's birthday dinner we put on our swimsuits and sat in the hot tub for SUCH a long time. I kept going from hot-tub-to-pool-to-hot-tub, and I think we spent ...

I woke up in San Francisco!

It’s true! I get to spend 2 days with Emily. How lucky am I? Last night was charcuterie and wine at her apartment, followed by a Negroni and chats with her friends and a late night slice of pizza from a little pizza spot in the Mission. Today: morning walk for a coffee, then heading to wine country! I feel like I’m on top of the world 😉 xo. edc.

Friday Favorites! Johnson visit+ Lucy/Olive Birthday

This week was a fun one. We hung out with the Johnson’s, survived our fridge going out and celebrated Lucy and Olives birthday. What a whirlwind! 1// Kate and I have always made a point to see each other as often as time allows and with each child we’ve added to the bunch it seems to get harder and harder. Some of my favorite, favorite memories were when we both were new moms and we’d visit each other with our babies for weeks at a time. It was SO special. Now there’s 6 kids between us and the kids are destined to be friends— if we have to force it, we will!! We had a blast with the whole crew. It was not quiet, but it was fun! 2// Lucy and Olive’s LEGO friends birthday party was a hit! There were LEGOfriends galore, and I have the greatest time when we're all together. The time always flies and ends with tired kids buckling into seatbelts and asking when "we'll see Amos and Olive again". 3// Olle and Sigge bring a lot of joy into my life. Olle was gifted ...

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! I've been looking forward to this weekend because my college roommate/family is coming tonight! There’s snow in the forecast so I’m positive we won’t be doing any fun fall things but hopefully the kids can play and we can catch up. That’s all you really hope for when friends come to visit anyway right? Despite snow being in the forecast this week was insanely nice!! We went to 2 different parks and I sent Lucy to school without coats most of the days.  Here’s some favorites from the week: 1//  i came  home from the marathon and Sten and Olle were  matching at church... what?!? Look at these 2! 2// we had 3 days without dad bc he was at a pastors retreat, so on Tuesday night we made the most of extended patio season and met cousins at bad weather brewing. It was really fun.  3// since I was soooooo sore from the marathon I feel like we did a lot of extra sitting and snuggling this week. I’m not upset about it!  4// t...

Twin Cities Marathon

THAT.WAS.FUN!.... I literally had the time of my life running the marathon on Sunday. Every mile felt special for one reason or another and the day was PERFECT. It felt weird to go into a race and have NO idea where I was at pace wise. I settled on a 3:25 for my A goal, and thought if I could stay in between the 3:30 and 3:20 pacer I'd be good. I have a tendency to go out fast and I can't control the adrenaline pumping those first couple miles, but I really wanted to race smart, knowing that there is the climb at the end, and remembering how I felt last year when I got to miles 20-26.... I got to the start early (7am) and then I got to see my friend Anna-- who was also in corral 1, was my neighbor in Menomonie and is a running speedster!! We hadn't seen each other in SO long and we just kept talking and talking, and all of the sudden, I was like, I need to use the bathroom... so we got in the looooooong line, and then realized that we were going to miss the bag drop-off!...

Friday Favorites

Do I mention that the weeks go by really fast every week?? Because I definitely feel it. I feel like I was JUST leaving for the Midcurrent Women's Retreat, but that was a whole week ago.... Anyway, this week was a blur, without very many pictures taken, but with lots of home time, lots of Sigge naps and a sweet playdate yesterday morning. Here's a recap of my FAVS this week: 1// The Breathe Retreat. The weekend started out with a relaxing car ride with Mary and Hailley. We rarely get to catch up without kids around, so 2.5 hours of uninterrupted car time, was seriously the highlight for me. I enjoyed the retreat and learning more about the enneagram as I feel like it gives words to me as a person.  God answered our prayers and friendships were formed, bonds deepened and He was DEFINITELY at work in the lives of the women over the weekend.  I spent a GREAT deal of my time in the kitchen (the happiest place on earth).   communion night is my favorite. who d...
