Tuesday Tangents… on a Wednesday.

Started my day with a 5 mile solo run and it is STILL cold in the mornings and I’m starting to get really angry about it. I am starting to wonder whether or not spring will ever come or if I’ll be wearing layers for the rest of my life.  Tangents for today:  Sigge in costume happened after dinner, then he wanted me to take videos and pictures of him doing all his “moves”  My favorite “go-to” spatula bit the dust yesterday. We got this as a wedding gift and it had a piece missing from the top and half the handle was already gone… but I officially threw it away yesterday :( Anyone else attached to kitchen accessories?? Like, we need a new cheese grater baddddd but also, don’t want to get rid of our old trusty one!  Sigge and Croix played together from 8:30-2:30 yesterday with no fights and I didn’t once hear: “I’m bored, mom!” Play dates are amazing.  Sigge is obsessed with his haircut and wanted to see what the back looked like, multiple pictures later, he is ple...

Chop chop ✂️

Sigge-boy got his first big haircut yesterday. He looks so grown up and big and handsome and DIFFERENT.  He’s pretty proud of himself and he loves to feel the buzzed hair in the back. “I wove it!” He said when sten asked him how he felt about it.  It was time. It was unruly, and when it got snarly he hated having it brushed and that battle felt like one I wasn’t willing to fight, so then he just looked homely.  We got home from the Y yesterday and I said: let’s cut your hair! It was a surprise for all of us!  Such a stud. xo. edc.  That’s a lot of hair!!!! Before picture:

Weekend Review.

It’s Monday! Weekends fly by and I am never going to stop feeling like: did I make it count?!?  Anyway, we had a good weekend with a mix of activity and relaxation.  Saturday morning I started the day with a 13.1 mile run with Kim. We found a big loop and the time went by super fast.  Then it was pancakes and off to the science museum where we watched the National Parks Adventure Omnitheater movie and checked out a few exhibits.  I had packed a lunch so we went to our fav brewery Bad Weather for games and a family hang ❤️ My Sunday afternoon run happened in SHORTS!!!! And then we decided a bonfire needed to happen! It was sunny and breezy, and fun to sit around the fire and roast hotdogs and s’mores.    This week I’m in a challenge with my sissy to see who can be healthier. We’ve got a whole point system figured out and I can’t wait to win. I’m ready to go into April feeling the absolute best I can! xo. edc.

9.5

Baby girl turned 9.5 on Monday. Half birthdays are my favorite. Sten and I talk often about making something out of nothing. 1/2 birthdays bridge the gap for the enormity that 12 months is in a young child’s brain. And there’s zero pressure! No presents! No hoopla! No special treatment ! Just a half cake and acknowledgement that you’ve survived 1/2 a year!   Lucy’s easy to celebrate, she is a bright shining light everyday, but she stands a little straighter when it’s about her. I like that about her. Girls got some confidence and knows her worth. What a great trait!!!! 6 months until double digits… how did that happen?!  xo. edc.  ps. 3 yrs ago 😭

And that’s a wrap.  Back to reality today and it hurts a little.  xo. edc.

Tomo.

This will be us TOMORROW!!!  Is there anything better than the anticipation leading up for a trip?  I can’t handle it. And at the same time I don’t want it to start bc then it’s going to be over 😩😩😩 There has to be a condition for what I’m describing— ‘fear of a trip ending that hasn’t even started yet’ ….  Can’t wait to hang with my favorite person in the whole world!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We hold some of our favorite memories together in Sonoma, I feel so lucky I get to be there with Sten!  Off for one last snowy run. ❤️ xo. edc.

Still coloring + new recipe + sunnnnn

Ughhhhh! Days with my little ninja are feeling so fleeting lately. The sun was beating against the house this morning and I knew we needed a morning sun date. This stage of Sigge brings me the most genuine smiles. He’s pure delight. I love him so much.  He’s stillllllll coloring. Always asking for me to print out a picture and coloring WITH him is also a big ask.  I found this on Pinterest and thought it was a great little tool if I need a boost.  We had friends over for dinner on Saturday and made “sheet pan Cuban steak” from my new cookbook and it was 5 ⭐️’s. We cooked the meal together which was so fun and decided this would be a new tradition, cooking through this cookbook together.  The kids made up plays in the basement and they were hilarious and heartwarming and my favorite thing. I’ve been waiting for the day where this is what happens when kids are with friends. Imaginations are a wonderful thing.   I needed the sun today. It is an instant mood li...

Easy Dinner.

I made hummus on Tuesday and found clearanced naan bread 🫓 and we had a great easy dinner this past week. It was a hit for all and the combo of hummus, olive oil, everything bagel seasoning, goat cheese and mixed veggies is more satisfying than I can explain.  I’m curious. What are go-to easy dinners in other homes??  Last night I got home at 5:35 and made the most delicious red sauce with roasted broccoli on the side and we were eating by 6:15… that felt like a win, but most other days I feel like I spend a lot of time in the kitchen  making things my kids won’t eat… or my quickest meals aren’t the healthiest. I think this will be something I attempt to master this spring. Especially as summer is coming and I tend to leave things til the last possible moment.  We have limited plans this weekend. Most important thing on my to-do list is watching Survivor tonight with Sten after the kids go to bed!  Happy Friday. xo. edc.

On being 37

Here I am. Officially my new age and now Birthday month is officially over. Happy March! What will this month bring? Hopefully warmer weather, less boot wearing, an outdoor porch sit perhaps???? Running in less than 3 layers?!? Probably not, but I’m 🤞 just in case.  I crossed 26/37 things off my 37 list and you know what? I’m good with that. I aimed high during the shortest month of the year and landed somewhere between over achiever and failure…. It’s a good place to be. Keeps me humble.  I’ll leave you with this sweet little picture of mama drawing Spider-Man for Sigge at our coffee date yesterday. What a wonderful way to spend the last day of the month. xo. edc.
