Morgan.

Well. That was super fun. I wish I could go do it all over again. My friend Emily summarized concerts so well: “This is living!! Community, music, feelings, fun!” That’s exactly how I felt at the concert on Thursday night. The show was delayed bc of some weather so anticipation was HIGH. And when we heard the first note all 65,000+ people went crazy! It was for sure a 2024 highlight.  I wish I could attach the video clips….  Sten and I had so so so much fun together singing and holding each other tight! It was a night I’ll never forget.  Getting to spend a couple days with Bryce and Ryann was the best. Running, hiking, boot camp class and dinner on the front porch= all my fav things jammed into 1 very short trip.  Until next time ♥️🤠 xo. edc.

Lately

It feels like summer, long days filled to the brim, tired bodies at night, dirty toes constantly, and lots of house chores that don't get done.  It was a super rainy week off and on, but it really hasn't slowed us down. We spent entire days with friends, went strawberry picking, I have been in my classroom a lot trying to get it ready for kids, I made sourdough for the first time in a long time, we went to the carpenter nature center and played and hiked with friends... nights have been spent playing games, going on walks, and watching shows.  And before that, we took a week of recovery at Bay Lake and it was GOOD FOR THE SOUL. We did a lot of resting, some swimming, lots of walks, and lots of fishing.  The Maleys were close by and came for an afternoon!  All snuggled in with my 3 little buddies.  S'mores night= my favorite night.  It never gets old! What a great week.  Nature hike.  Wood turtle.  Strawberry picking in the rain.  P...

backyard birthday bash.

backyard birthday party with sourdough pizza. what a dream.  Jenny and Deans backyard is so beautiful it was easy to make this night something I wish I could re-live again and again.  We had 2 pizza ovens going with sourdough pizza crusts, then we dressed the pizzas, popped them back in the ovens and voila!  Happy Birthday to Mary and Andrea. I hope you felt all the love and celebration you deserve.  Full table+full heart.  “Lying, thinking  Last night How to find my soul a home Where water is not thirsty And bread loaf is not stone I came up with one thing And I don’t believe I’m wrong That nobody, But nobody Can make it out here alone.” - Maya Angelou  This poem is such a picture of friendship to me. It’s really hard to have friendships that are deep and lasting. People are messy, perhaps I’m the messiest of all. I have lots of edges that need softening, and at the same time my tender heart gets me in trouble. My soul needs a home within friendship b...

IM 70.3 Des Moines

I’m a week out from my race. I should have written this recap on the car ride home while it was fresher in my brain, but I was busy riding the high of my first triathlon. And let me tell you, there was nothing like that high. Is that why athletes push the limits? For the dopamine? It certainly does make you feel like the world is yours to conquer.  Do you remember this post ? I was at the lowest of lows. Training had become such a chore and I was feeling so defeated. I got over that slump and the last 3 weeks of training were enjoyable! — unlike the marathon taper, the triathlon taper felt welcome and manageable. There was still adequate levels of activity without the feeling of being on the edge of burnout. My last week of workouts:  Sunday: 1 hr (20 miles) biking Monday: rest Tuesday: 4 mile run, 30 min OWS Wednesday: 42 mins (12.5 mile) bike Thursday: rest  Friday: practice bike to run transition: 20 min bike, 10 min run Saturday: rest (lots of walking) This had ...
