LJC time.

So aware of my luck of getting to spend time with Lucy. And she likes hanging out with me too?! The boys went away on Friday night to put the dock in up at Bay Lake and all of Saturday was spent doing Saturday stuff with Lucy. We went out for breakfast, we did the grocery shopping and we went to some shops. Because: I think clothes are our love languages. Multiple times we acknowledged how much fun we were having together and on Saturday night Lucy said: it’s going to be so easy to say what my favorite part of the weekend was at school on Monday- bc it’s been this whole day with you.  I haven’t been to Key’s in forever. But now I want to go back and order this “you build it omelette” again with sweet potatoes, goat cheese, spinach, avocado and bacon on repeat. I’ll be dreaming of this for weekends to come.  Lucy got giant pancakes and loved them so much.  We played a few rounds of Qwirkle and I forgot how fun this game is. Especially when the sun is shining on the table....

did it + days off

Last super long training run ✓! This one felt like a doozy. Is it because it was? 31 solo miles when I've done the majority of my training with friends. I think I needed to know I could execute this many miles without relying on the chatter and the people to keep the pace when I wanted to give up. I am so happy that I was able to take a day off and get it done. My entire body hurts. at first I was like- oh it's just my calves and feet, but as I sit my abs hurt, my shoulders hurt, my hammies hurt.... aaaaah that good pain. I broke it up into increments which always seems to help me. 5 mile loop, then 10 miles without music, at 7 miles I could take my first GU. at 10.3 miles I was 1/3 of the way through. then 1/2 marathon, then at 14 I took another GU, then at 15.5 I was halfway! I turned around when I got to the N. Saint Paul sign at mile 16.5-- and then the mental gymnastics continued... will I do this the entire time I am running 50 miles? ha. I never consider myself a math p...

Hoppy Easter 🐣

Easter weekend went by so fast I actually can’t believe it’s over. I guess I keep thinking- surely that’s not it- right?  It was a wonderful 3 days. We packed a lot in and I am entering this week feeling very behind on everything. I got to midday yesterday and was like: oh! I never went grocery shopping this weekend! Luckily mom sent us home with some ham, phew 😮‍💨! We had 4 services at Midcurrent and almost 1,000 people. I’m so proud of Sten and the team that made everything beautiful and amazing. I felt grateful to be a part of it all.  My whole family attended the 11am service and I love that we snapped a picture 💝 Also love this family photo of the 5 of us:)  After church we went straight to grandma and grandpas for an epic Easter egg hunt boys vs girls with riddles and running and Bible verses to look up and the kids were red faced, out of breath and thought it was truly the best thing ever! Grandpa set the bar extremely high! Girls won (woohoo!) :)  Also— th...

lately.

It’s Easter week. I just am realizing I never got out my decorations. Is it too late? I think not, I will do that this afternoon.  It’s early and my house is quiet. I am usually out running at this time and decided my body needs a little break this week, so I am giving myself just that. I like quiet mornings. Gives me a chance to focus on what I want my days to look like and sip my coffee slowly. Mornings feel so fleeting. And normally I want to pack everything in. It feels nice to not have an agenda. I started an Easter Bible plan and will take time this week to focus on this important week. It should really be my main priority as someone who believes in the power of the resurrection, and yet too often, it gets pushed to the back- out of sight.  Here’s some things lately:  I made sourdough over the weekend and my loaf FINALLY turned out. I’ve had many duds lately. I’m not sure what I did, except for buying my flour at the co-op. So I will do that from now on.  What ...

Daddy Daughter Dance 2024 + Lately.

Last one for these two. What an amazing tradition over the years.  This was from the first year where did my baby go?!?  I hope their bond is always special and they always make time for a date. Lucy is the luckiest gal in the world. What has been going on the last couple weeks? A lot of food has been made. A lot of runs have taken place. The days are flying by and I cannot believe we are already a week into April.  I feel like I turned a corner in training after my cut back week. I needed that mentally more than I did physically and it came at just the right time. Training makes me laser focused. I am a good version of myself when I am training well. Training for this 50 mile is high demand right now, and I am trying my hardest to focus on the important things and let the other stuff go. Like- it was important to rest and watch a movie with Lucy and Sigge on Wednesday night instead of cleaning the house. :) I have broken down the last 7 weeks: 1 more high mileage ...
