the last drops of summer

Heading back to school today as Sten goes back to church as well. The last few weeks flew as fast as the first part of summer and I am in total denial that this is all over. We had the best summer and I wish we could do it all again.
Lots of sleepy children these last couple weeks. Late night and days FULL. We feel so lucky that we got to pack so much in.
Here's a recap of the last drops of summer.
Jessica and I took the girls camping. We had the greatest time hiking hanging by the campfire, finding coffee in marine on the St. Croix and sleeping in the camper.
These 2 found matching lounge shorts which were a COMPLETE necessity.

Mom and dad came out for dinner one night, which was a real treat

It still feels like a dream that my sister and I both have 11 year-old girls. How lucky could I be???

I’m a full on sourdough fanatic again. Get ready for lots of sourdough bread pictures

While Sten was out fishing with his brother and friends. I hosted lots of friends! One morning we had brunch and played ticket to ride! It was a blast. Hanging out mid morning is probably my favorite.

Another night this crazy crew came over. We cooked yummy food and the kids played so many fun games together. Sardines, capture the flag and lots of laughs were had. The moms went for a neighborhood walk and lots of chats were had.

We snuck out for one last Bay Lake trip with a quick pivot to staying at Ruttgers. It was a treat to swim in the pool and use all the amenities, but we all agreed that it was sad not to stay at the cabin.

Me and Sigge camped on Kim’s land with all his buddies ♥️ it was adorable and such a summer bucket lister.

The most dreamy place to set a tent.

Campfire corn. 🌽

Me and my guy.

Telling spooooooky stories.

The cutest crew 🥰

Ran my 8 mile loop for maybe the first time this summer and remembered how much I love it.

Heather's bridal shower with all my Cedarbrook pals. It was so easy to celebrate Heather. She’s the best

Origami with Sigge. I’m going to miss our crafting afternoons— and that little tongue out in concentration.

sourdough discard pancakes. SO good and they are fluffy which I personally find appealing.
6 1/2 candles for our half birthday guy! How in the world are we halfway to 7?!?!
Going to the zoo was the last item on our list this summer and we made it happen!

PEACE OUT SUMMER!

Sliders

Remember when I used to be a food blogger?? I don’t have time for that anymore, but I’m so glad that some people do. This recipe in particular is such a crowd pleaser it needs a permanent spot on my blog. And if you make it. Let me know.  It takes less than 20 mins from start to finish and my kids all ate it. No complaints.   Sliders: 1 lb ground chicken 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs 1 tsp each:garlic powder/ onion powder/ chili powder 2 tsp paprika  1/2 tsp salt Mix.  Make into 8 patties Bake on parchment paper at 425 for 15 minutes.  DONE!  I also understand why I never took off as a food blogger. My pictures are terrible and so un-appetizing. But I truly thought I would make it big.  I’m fairly certain I couldn’t have fit more in this weekend if I tried. But it was a great one full of lots of good things. as we start our first full week of school my prayer is that I can let the little things slide and make some memories with my family. Got in 10 m...

Other things.

In other news: I’m labeling this blogpost “other things” bc there’s a lot that doesn’t fit together and since this is the only way I can remember my life, I must document things.  First: Andrea gave me her race bib for the TC 10 mile. I feel so excited about this. I didn’t know how sad I was not to participate this year until she asked if I wanted her spot and my heart took a ginormous leap! Today I did 4x800’s and it felt SO good.  This loon was fun to watch the other day. I am completely obsessed with loons.  This was: 🥹 but also, I sing a lot at preschool. So I feel like it kind hit, and kinda didn’t.  Badland babes starry morning run. Always a highlight of my week.  Did I already mention that we got to see Great Grandma Kay the other day? If so, well, she gets a double spot on the blog bc she is so sharp and she still pulls sig up on her lap even at 100 yrs old.  Sorry for the sideways. But this was a very good read. It followed 4 people from various b...
